Deerfield Reservoir:

Deerfield Reservoir is 47 minutes away from Powder House Lodge and is one of the area’s best kept secrets. The reservoir has two boat launches, two picnic areas, and is a popular destination for fishing all-year-round. The reservoir does allow for motorized watercrafts but the entire lake maintains a no-wake zone making it the perfect place for paddle boarding, canoeing, and kayaking. The Black Hills fully surround the lake with a variety of coves; the water temperature at Deerfield is typically colder so it is not the most popular swimming destination. Due to its location and temperature this lake is often less crowded and is perfect for people looking to be alone in nature.

In addition to most of these lakes offering their own boat rentals, the Black Hills also feature a wide variety of outfitters who can equip you and your family with everything you need to enjoy a day on the water. To learn more about the various outfitters in the area, talk to one of our employees during your next stay!
