Halloween happenings in the Black Hills!

It’s the season of full moons, pumpkins, piles of leaves, and jack-o-lanterns. Halloween is right around the corner, with fall festivals and haunted houses popping up all over the area. The Black Hills are no stranger to ghost stories and haunted locations. If you dare, venture out into the hills and check out these fun & festive Halloween activities!

Keystone – Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, through October 31st, get ready to be scared at the Haunting of Keystone! This terrifying tour features a series of haunted locations including a trip into a gold mine, a haunted forest and the old Keystone schoolhouse, where ghosts of students past will school you in the art of spook. Enter at your own risk and be prepared for a ghostly good time! Check here for dates and times.

Custer - The 18th Annual Halloween Night Hike will take place on October 23 and 24. From the Peter Norbeck Visitor Center in Custer State Park participants hike a paved path along a “creepy,” route with costumed characters “helping,” them along the way. Hikes begin every 15 minutes starting at 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Save your spot, as reservations are required and can be made by calling 605-255-4464.

Rapid City - The Historic Alex Johnson Hotel is hosting a Halloween party on October 31st, at 9 p.m. Tickets are $10 (in advance, $15 at the door). Tickets can be purchased at the front desk in the Lobby of the Alex Johnson. The annual party features a costume contest, food and drinks! Dress to impress as some lucky souls will walk away with a winning prize!

Old Mac Donald’s Farm will host a family friendly Halloween celebration during their Fall Festival Days. Doors open at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 31. Bring your family in costume and take part in the wagon rides or pick a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch and paint it! Jump into the corn pit or watch the pig races! Scare in the Square is on October 31st in downtown Rapid City at Main Street Square. Get into the spirit and enjoy this family friendly event all afternoon!
