What is your cancellation policy?
All reservations require a deposit of the first night's lodging on a credit card at the time of making the reservation. We require that all cancellations be made 3 days prior to the date of the reservation for a full refund of deposit, less cancellation fee. If notification is less than 3 days in advance, all payments will be forfeited. All cancellations will incur a cancellation fee of $25.00, regardless if cancellation is made 3 days prior to date of registration. Policy for large groups and Sturgis Rally reservations will be different.
How far away is Mt. Rushmore?
The Powder House Lodge is located approximately 1.5 miles north of Keystone on Hwy 16A, approximately 4 miles from Mt. Rushmore.
Are you centrally located to area attractions?
Yes, the Powder House Lodge is located on Hwy 16A approximately 1.5 miles north of Keystone and 4 miles from Mt. Rushmore. Most other attractions in the Hills are 30-45 minutes away with the exception of Deadwood, Hot Springs, and the Badlands, all of which are approximately 1.25 hours in opposite directions.
Are towels and linens provided?
Yes, the Powder House Lodge provides all towels and linens.
Do you have a pool?
Yes, the Powder House Lodge has a great, heated outdoor pool. The pool is open every day from Memorial Day weekend until after Labor Day. Pool hours are from 9 am to 10 pm every day, weather permitting of course.
Do you have a hot tub?
Sadly, the Powder House Lodge does not have a public hot tub. However, the Honeymoon Cabin does in fact have a nice big covered porch with a private hot tub on it.
Do you allow dogs?
Yes, the Powder House Lodge is dog friendly. However, at this time we are only accepting dogs. At this time we do not allow cats, reptiles, or birds. We also require that all dogs be declared at the time of check-in. Also, please be aware that there is a one-time fee of $15.00 per dog. Please realize this is a fee and not a deposit, and it will not be refunded at the conclusion of your stay.
Will we see wildlife during our stay?
We cannot guarantee that you will see wildlife during your stay. However, it is not uncommon for guests to see wild turkeys and deer during their stay. In the past we have also had elk and mountain goats make several appearances on the grounds.
Do your provide utensils in the kitchenettes?
Sorry, but at this time we do not provide utensils or plates of any kind in the kitchenettes.
Does lodging provide air conditioning? Heat?
Yes, all of our cabins and rooms have both air conditioning and heat.
Does lodging provide TV? Phone service?
Yes, all of our cabins/rooms offer Satelite (DirecTV). All cabins/rooms also have phone service. However, the system is not able to allow for long distance phone calls from the rooms. If you need to make long distance calls from the rooms you must call collect, or use a phone card. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. Calls can be accepted and transferred to your room at any time during normal office hours.
Can we make lodging reservations online?
Yes, we are now able to accept reservations online in real time. However, please be aware that our full inventory of rooms will not necessarily be listed online at all times. If rooms are not available, please call us at 605-666-4646. We may be able to find openings for the rooms you prefer. All normal reservation policies still apply to online reservations.
Do you have high-speed Internet?
Yes, the Powder House Lodge is pleased to offer high speed internet throughout our entire facility.  However, please keep in mind that we are still in the mountains and that while we do have excellent coverage, our service providers are not able to supply us with the speeds you may be used to seeing a home.
Do you have on-site laundry facilities?
Yes, we do have coin-operated on-site laundry facilities for our guests to use. Change and laundry soap are also available in the gift shop.
Do you take reservations for the restaurant?
No, we do not take reservations for the restaurant. However, if you call us at 605-666-4646 30 minutes prior to when you would like to be seated, we will put you on the waiting list and your party will be given priority when you arrive.

Reservations will be accepted for parties of 6 or more.
How far is it to the Rapid City Regional Airport?
The Powder House Lodge is approximately a 30 minute drive from the Rapid City Regional Airport. Get directions here.
Are the rates on the Internet current?
Yes the current rates advertised on the website are current for the season. However, please do realize that we do run specials throughout the year, and during the off-season. While we try to post these online, it is not always possible. When booking online, you will always be offered the lowest available rate for your stay during the booking process. Or you can always call us at 605-666-4646 and we would love to check availability and offer any discounted rates that are available.
Are there room discounts during the off-season?
Yes, we do offer discounted rates during the off-season. Off-season rates are generally available before Memorial Day and after Labor Day. Please be aware that off-season rates are fully discounted, therefore we will not offer any further discounts for AAA/AARP members. Please feel free to call us at 605-666-4646, and we will check availability and let you know of any special off-season rates. You will also always be offered the lowest available rate when booking online during the reservation process.
Is the Powder House Lodge open year-round?
No, the Powder House Lodge is only open seasonally. Generally, we will open mid-week just after Mother's Day in May and will remain open until the second week of October. However, we do answer our phones and accept reservations all year. If you are calling during our off season and are unable to reach us, please leave a voicemail and we will return your call.

We are travelling with a trailer, do you have parking available for us?
Yes, the Powder House Lodge does in fact have limited parking available for trailers, whether you are moving or hauling motorcycles. However, please be aware that this parking is located across the highway from the rest of the property on a flat piece of land along the highway. Upon check-in you will be directed as to where to park your trailer. You may leave your vehicle attached to the trailer, or you may "drop" the trailer if you wish. If you wish to drop the trailer, please be sure to bring any necessary locks and wheel chocks to secure your trailer. Please be aware that if you are dropping a trailer and traveling with a motorcycle as well, parking next to cabins/rooms is limited and you may be required to leave your primary vehicle attached to the trailer or across the highway as well. Due to the terrain and our layout, we do not offer trailer parking next to the cabins due to access issues. Also, we do not allow trailers to be left on the main lot for extended periods of time, as we need this parking for restaurant guests.
